Infinite Group, Inc. (IGI) Expands
Virtualization Practice
Pittsford, NY, May 8, 2008
Infinite Group,
Inc. (IMCI.OB) today announced plans to expand its Virtualization
Practice to the state government and commercial markets. IGI’s
Virtualization Practice has focused on the Federal Civilian Agency
market so the expansion will leverage that expertise to pursue the
growing Virtualization market in State and Private Industry segments
while continuing growth in the Federal market including Civilian and
Department of Defense activities. "IGI has existing contract
vehicles in Mississippi and North Carolina, and we are pursuing
similar vehicles in other states to support the growth of our
Virtualization business. We also have strategic consultants in
various industry segments and a 'go to market' strategy based on our
success in the Federal market," said David Slavny, IGI’s Director of
Business Development.
IGI’s rapid growth in the Virtualization services business has been
carefully managed by building a staff of Architects, Engineers, and
System Administrators trained, experienced, and certified with
leading edge methodologies and tools. IGI is a VMware Authorized
Consultant (VAC), and its Virtualization personnel are registered as
VMware Certified Professionals (VCPs).
To date, IGI has virtualized over 2,400 servers and has another
2,000 in various development stages. Most of the servers are
production servers and the Physical to Virtual migrations were
implemented while in the production mode. “We are experiencing about
a 10:1 reduction in physical to virtual servers so our clients are
benefiting substantially in power, cooling, and space savings,” said
Jim Frost, IGI’s Chief Technology Officer. "For one of our clients,
we anticipate a 20:1 reduction based on a recently completed
Capacity Plan study," said Frost.
Scott Hogan, IGI’s Vice President of Operations, said that "most of
the servers we have virtualized are managed by our team of System
Administrators 24/7 so we have a well defined Operations Plan to
guide the server management process in a virtualized environment.
This process along with the features of VMware ESX enables us to
efficiently manage some 1,700 production level Virtual Machines."
IGI specializes in Intelligent Infrastructure Services with
Virtualization being the base service. IGI offers Virtualization
services for Servers, Client Stations (desktop, laptop, and wireless
devices), Storage, and Network systems. IGI is expert in the full
lifecycle of Virtualization including Requirements, Design, Develop,
Deploy, Migrate, Test, and Manage.
